(Washington DC) - The St. Louis Cardinals will lean on 37 year-old Chris Carpenter to subdue the Washington Nationals in game three of the NLDS this afternoon.
Carpenter will make his fourth start of the season when he takes the mound at Nationals Park and has an ERA of 3.71 in seventeen innings pitched in September.
The Cardinals long time ace was benched in spring training with numbness in his arm that later required corrective surgery in July.
Edwin Jackson finished the regular season with a record of 10-11 and will get the start for the Nationals today.
Game three in the best-of-five NLDS begins at 1:07.
