(South Bend, IN) - The first college football BCS poll of 2012 was released Sunday and has the Notre Dame Fighting Irish within striking distance of the National Championship game.
Notre Dame is ranked fifth nationally in the BCS following Sunday's 20-13 overtime win against number-20 Stanford.
The South Eastern Conference holds the top two spots with Alabama at number-one and Florida at number-two.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly revealed Sunday that quarterback Everett Golson had suffered a mild concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the game against Stanford.
Kelly said Golson would likely be cleared to practice after another round of tests today.
