(Ridgeway, VA) - Sprint Cup drivers will try to close in on Brad Keselowski for the championship lead this Sunday on the intimate half-mile oval at Martinsville Speedway.
The 500 lap race in Southern Virginia gives the opportunistic competitor a chance to gain ground in the Chase for the Sprint Cup with its Bump-and-Run style and close quarters racing.
Jimmie Johnson is down seven points to Keselowski after recovering from a spinout last weekend to finish ninth.
The top five drivers in points held their ground at Kansas, leaving Denny Hamlin in third, Clint Bowyer in fourth, and Kasey Kahne in fifth.
Dale Earnhardt Jr has been cleared by doctors to return to racing after a two week absence. Junior will resume the Chase with four races to go after suffering a concussion at Talladega Superspeedway.
Defending Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon hold down the seventh and eighth positions on the table, and last week's winner, Matt Kenseth, is ninth.
Qualifying at Martinsville is today, and the Tums Fast Relief 500 is Sunday at 1:00.
