(San Francisco, CA) - The Cincinnati Reds took a commanding 2-0 lead in the National League Division Series with an emphatic 9-0 blowout win over the San Francisco Giants at AT & T Park.
Ryan Ludwick fired the first shot in the second inning with a solo home run off Giants starter Madison Bumgarner.
The Reds strung together a three run, fourth inning that featured a two run single from Scott Rolen and an RBI base hit by Ryan Hanigan.
Bronson Arroyo helped Cincinnati maintain their 4-0 lead through his seven innings pitched by conceding one hit and striking out four. The Reds broke the game open in the eighth inning that started with a two run double Jay Bruce.
Hanigan drove in Bruce two batters later with a single to centerfield and Drew Stubbs followed by lacing an RBI triple to deep center. Brandon Phillips gave the NL Central Champs the 9-0 final by driving in Bruce with his second double of the game.
Joey Votto had three hits and scored twice for the Reds and Hanigan finished with three RBI. The best-of-five series moves to Great American Ballpark for game three Tuesday.
The Giants Ryan Vogelsong takes the mound against Homer Bailey, who pitched a no hitter against the Pirates on September 28th.
