(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts placed corner Jerraud Powers and defensive tackle Drake Nevis on injured reserve, effectively ending the season for the two key defenders.
Powers injured his toe during the win over the Miami Dolphins two games ago and will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Darius Butler, who had two interceptions and a fumble recovery against the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday.
Nevis suffered a hand injury against the Jaguars and heads to injured reserve for the second straight season.
Rookie defensive tackle Josh Chapman might see some playing time against the New England Patriots this Sunday with the loss of Nevis.
The Alabama grad is cleared for duty after the Colts activated him from the injured reserve list yesterday.
The Colts are 6-3 on the season and maintain their lead for one of two wildcard births in a crowded AFC.
They have their annual showdown against the Patriots in Foxborough Sunday.
Kickoff is at 4:25.
