(South Bend, IN) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish jumped out to an eleven point halftime lead and upset the eighth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 64-50 in South Bend.
The Fighting Irish were 8-15 behind the 3-point arc and held the defending national champions to a season low 40 percent shooting on the evening.
Junior Eric Atkins paced Notre Dame with 16 points and Jack Cooley added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Julius Mays had 16 points for the Wildcats, who matched their total number of losses from 2011 at two with last night's defeat at the Joyce Center.
Notre Dame are 7-1 overall and will break until Saturday, December 8th, when they host the Brown Bears.
