(West Lafayette, IN) - The Purdue Boilermakers avoided a third straight defeat with a 66-56 win over the Ball State Cardinals at Mackey Arena.
The Boilermakers held the Cardinals to 35 percent shooting on the evening and forced 17 turnovers in the win over their in-state rival.
The Cardinals are 0-4 against Indiana opponents this season after losing to Indiana State, Indiana, and Butler in the span of eight days in November.
Jesse Berry led all scorers with 22 points for Ball State and Freshman AJ Hammons topped the Boilermakers with 15 points.
The Cardinals fall to 5-5 overall and host the IUPUI Jaguars Sunday at John E. Worthen Arena.
Purdue is 5-6 this season and play again Saturday, December 29th, against the William & Mary Tribe at Mackey Arena.
