(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts are optimistic that Head Coach Chuck Pagano will return to the sidelines for the team’s final regular season game next week and coach the team into the playoffs when they begin in January.
Interim Head Coach Bruce Arians is targeting next Monday, or Christmas Eve, as a return date for the Colts emotional leader whose Leukemia was declared in remission last month after being diagnosed with the disease in September.
Arians is hoping the team will have more concrete information about Pagano's possible return later in the week.
The Colts are 9-5 and have not secured a birth in the AFC wildcard round, although a victory in one of their last two regular season games would lockup a playoff spot for the franchise that won only two games last season.
The Chiefs are 2-12 on the year and were shutout by the Oakland Raiders Sunday, 15-0.
