(Indianapolis, IN) - Cassius Vaughn was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his role in the Indianapolis Colts 27-23 win over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.
Vaughn gave the Colts their first lead of the game in the third quarter when he intercepted Titans quarterback Jake Locker and returned the ball three yards for a touchdown.
He also led the team with eight solo tackles and defended three passes.
Vaughn was traded from the Broncos in May after signing on with Denver as an undrafted free agent in 2010.
He's the fifth player from the Colts to win an AFC Player of the Week Award and the second defender to do so.
The Colts returned to practice yesterday in front of a vital showdown against the Houston Texans this weekend.
The team placed running back Donald Brown on injured reserve yesterday and will also play without running back Delone Cater, who's been ruled out against the Texans with an ankle injury.
The team restocked at the position yesterday, signing rushers Mwelde Moore and Deji Karim.
The Colts are 9-4 and lead the wildcard race by two games over Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
The team can reclaim the AFC South division title by virtue of winning their remaining three games and 11-2 Houston losing all three of theirs.
Kickoff from Reliant Stadium is at 1:00.
