(Miami, FL) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face college football’s defending champions in the national title game on January 7th.
Number-two Alabama defeated number-three Georgia 32-28 in the SEC title game Saturday to punch their ticket to Miami.
It's the first time Notre Dame will play in a BCS title game and the first time they'll play the Crimson Tide since winning a regular season matchup in 1987.
The latest BCS poll released Sunday night had Notre Dame the top-ranked team for the second week in a row with Alabama trailing at number-two.
Number-three Florida will take on Big-East champion Louisville in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Number-four Oregon will play number-five Kansas State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, and number-six Stanford will play Big-Ten Champion Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
