(West Lafayette, IN) - The third-ranked Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers renew their illustrious rivalry tonight at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette.
Both teams have performed considerably well under different sets of expectations this season, with the Hoosiers maintaining their reputation as a national title favorite and the Boilermakers scraping together a winning record during a rebuilding year.
Indiana, 18-2 overall, 6-1 in the Big Ten, have won three straight and were steadfast in dictating the pace of a 75-70 win over the ninth ranked Michigan State Spartans last weekend.
Purdue, 11-9 overall, 4-3 in the conference, have won four of their last five games and scored a 65-62 overtime win over the Iowa Hawkeyes Sunday at Mackey Arena.
The Hoosiers completed a season sweep of Purdue last season with an 85-74 win in Bloomington on March 4th.
The series dates back to 1901, with Purdue holding a 112-86 all-time advantage over Indiana.
The Hoosiers, however, have five national championships while the Boilermakers have none.
Tipoff tonight between the two rivals is at 8:30.
