Hoosiers Survive Late Rally To Knock Off Wildcats

(Evanston, IL) - The second-ranked Indiana Hoosiers survived a second half surge to defeat the Northwestern Wildcats, 67-59, at Welsh Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois.

The Wildcats trailed 58-53 with over two minutes to play, but the Hoosiers made 7-8 free throw attempts in the final 53 seconds to clinch their fourth conference win of the season.

Cody Zeller led the Hoosiers with 21 points and 13 rebounds and Christian Watford added 14 points and six rebounds for Indiana.

Reggie Hearn led all scorers with 22 points for the Wildcats and Jared Swopshire had 13 points and eight rebounds for Northwestern, who are 11-8 overall, 2-4 in the Big-Ten, and have a home contest against the number-12 Minnesota Golden Gophers Wednesday.

Indiana is 16-2 overall, 4-1 in the conference, and play the Penn State Nittany Lions Wednesday at Assembly Hall.

The Hoosiers are in a three-way tie for second place in the Big Ten and trail first place Michigan State by half a game.
