(Memphis, TN) - The Indiana Pacers were escaped with an 82-81 road victory over the Memphis Grizzlies yesterday afternoon after an officials’ replay determined that Rudy Gay’s last second field goal didn’t beat the buzzer.
George Hill gave Indiana a one point lead by draining the eventual game winning free throw with 1.4 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
On the ensuing possession, Gay banked in a 21-foot jumper with time expiring.
Officials ruled that his shot was late, giving the Pacers their ninth win in 11 tries and a season sweep over the Grizzlies.
David West led Indiana in scoring with 14 points and five blocked shots and Paul George added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the blue and gold.
Wayne Elllington came off the bench to score 17 points for the Grizzlies and former Lawrence North star, Mike Conley, netted 13 points.
Memphis fall to 26-14 on the season and host the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday.
Indiana are 26-16 and continue their Western Conference road swing at the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night.
