(Minneapolis, MN) - The Minnesota Golden Gophers stunned the number-one Indiana Hoosiers with a 77-73 upset victory at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
The Golden Gophers out-muscled the Hoosiers in securing a 44 to 30 rebounding advantage and forced Indiana's prized center to foul-out in the final seconds of the game.
Cody Zeller's night ended with an underwhelming stat line of nine points, seven rebounds, and four turnovers.
Minnesota built a 68-61 lead with two and-a-half minutes to play in the second half and withstood a pair of 3-pointers by Christian Watford in the closing minutes.
Sixth-year Senior, Trevor Mbakwe, had a game high 21 points and 12 rebounds and Andre Hollins had 16 points for the Golden Gophers.
Minnesota is 19-9 overall, 7-8 in the Big Ten Conference, and host the Penn State Nittany Lions Saturday afternoon.
The Hoosiers are 24-4 overall, lead the conference by one game at 12-3, and play again Saturday night against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Assembly Hall.
