(Daytona, FL) - Jimmie Johnson outdueled last season’s Sprint Cup Champion and later contained the field during the closing laps to win the Daytona 500 for the second time in his career.
Johnson nudged ahead of Brad Keselowski on lap 191 before debris in the second turn brought out the final yellow flag of the race.
Dale Earnhardt Jr made a late run at Johnson but fell short in finishing second at the two and-a-half mile tri-oval.
Mark Martin came in third, Keselowski fourth, and Ryan Newman of South Bend came in fifth.
Danica Patrick became the first woman to ever lead at the 500 when she passed Michael Waltrip on a lap-90 restart.
