(Auburn Hills, MI) - The Valparaiso Crusaders will make their first NCAA appearance since 2004 when they battle the Michigan State Spartans today in the Midwest Region at Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The 14th-seeded Crusaders will lean on team experience in trying to upset the heavily favored Spartans, who are playing just an hour and fifteen minutes away from their home court in East Lansing.
Ryan Broekoff and four other seniors avenged last season's defeat in the Horizon League Tournament finals by defeating the Wright State Raiders in the championship game earlier this month.
Michigan State lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship game and tied with Ohio State for second place on the conference table.
Tipoff is at 12:15.
The Midwest Region final two rounds are held in Indianapolis.
