(Phoenix, AZ) - Carl Edwards ended a 70 race winless streak by taking the checkered flag at the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway Sunday.
Jimmie Johnson, winner of the Daytona 500 last Sunday, came in second, followed by Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, and Dale Earnhardt Junior.
Indiana drivers held down the eighth and ninth positions, with Stewart finishing just ahead of Jeff Gordon.
Pole-sitter Mark Martin came in 21st and South Bend's Ryan Newman blew his right front twice in finishing 40th.
Newman's teammate, Danica Patrick, followed her breakthrough performance at Daytona with a 39th place finish at the one-mile, tri-oval.
Patrick was exiting turn-four when she blew a tire and smacked the outside wall, causing her number-10 car to veer into the path of David Ragan and take another fierce hit.
Johnson is the points leader heading into next Sunday's race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
