(Dayton, OH) - In college basketball Sunday, Victor Oladipo made a 3-pointer with 14 seconds to play in allowing the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers escape Dayton Arena with a 58-52 win over the ninth-seeded Temple Owls in the NCAA Tournament East Region.
Oladipo's game-clinching shot helped the Hoosiers avoid an upset and advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Washington DC, where the Maryland native will play in front of friends and family Thursday against the fourth-seeded Syracuse Orange.
Indiana trailed by three at halftime and were threatening to become the second, number-one seed to exit the tournament prematurely after Gonzaga was dumped in the West Region by ninth-seeded Wichita State.
Khalif Wyatt led all scorers with 31 points for the Owls.
Oladipo had 16 points and eight rebounds and Cody Zeller had 15 points for the Hoosiers. Syracuse and Indiana tipoff Thursday at 9:45.
