(Auburn Hills, MI) - The Valparaiso Crusaders were overpowered by the Michigan State Spartans in a 65-54 loss in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Region, ending the Horizon League champions’ season and first tournament run since 2004.
The third-seeded Spartans were virtually playing a home game at the Palace of Auburn Hills, just nine ninety minutes away from campus, and went on a 26-5 run in the first half to knock Valparaiso out of the game early.
Ben Boggs came off the bench to lead Valpo with 15 points.
The 14th-seeded Crusaders finish the season with a 26-8 overall record and a 13-3 mark in league play.
The Spartans play Saturday in the round-of-32 against the sixth-seeded Memphis Tigers.
