(Indianapolis, IN) The Indiana Pacers will be seeded-third in the Eastern Conference when the playoffs begin this weekend following Sunday night’s 90-80 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The Pacers chances of catching New York for the second best record in the East were crushed in the loss at MSG, but were guaranteed the third best record in the conference after the looming Brooklyn Nets were defeated by the Toronto Raptors Sunday.
Carmelo Anthony shot 9 of 23 from-the-field for New York but managed 25 points against the league's second best scoring defense in points allowed.
Lance Stephenson led the Pacers with 22 points and David West had 17 points and 8 rebounds.
The Pacers are 49-21 and conclude the regular season this week against Boston and Philadelphia before hosting the first round of the playoffs this weekend.
Indiana will be paired with the six seed, which will go to the Atlanta Hawks or Chicago Bulls.
