(undated) - In the National League Wednesday, the Cincinnati Reds needed 9 minutes to put the finishing touches on a rain shortened game from Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Jay Bruce drove in the game winning run in the bottom of-the-ninth inning to give the Reds a 1-0 win over visiting Philadelphia.
Heavy rains Tuesday night stopped the contest in the ninth after excellent performances from both starting pitchers.
Homer Bailey struck out ten in eight innings for Cincinnati and Aroldis Chapman pitched the ninth for his second win of the season.
The Reds won the regularly scheduled contest later in the evening, an 11-to-2 shelling of Philadelphia at Great American Ballpark.
Todd Fraizer and Zach Cozart both homered in helping the Reds complete their first series sweep of the Phillies since 1996.
The Reds are 8-7 and trail the St. Louis Cardinals by a half game for first place in the NL Central.
They open a four game home stand tonight against the Miami Marlins.
