(Los Angeles, CA) - The UCLA Bruins have hired former Indiana University basketball star, Steve Alford, as the school’s next men’s basketball coach.
Alford will be introduced at a news conference Tuesday in Los Angeles and joins UCLA after spending six seasons as head coach of the New Mexico Lobos.
His 24 seasons of head coaching experience earned him a lucrative 7-year, 18.2 million dollar contract with the Bruins, averaging out to 2.6 million dollars a season.
The school was rumored to have offered Brad Stevens of the Butler Bulldogs the head coaching position.
