(Washington DC) - In Major League Baseball Thursday, Ryan Zimmerman hit a game breaking double in the fourth inning to lead the Washington Nationals over the Chicago White Sox, 7-4 in Washington DC.
Two runs scored when Zimmerman launched a 2-out pitch from David Axelrod into deep right field at Nationals Park, giving Washington a 6-3 lead in route to their second 3-game sweep of the season.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura had chosen to intentionally walk reigning rookie of the year Bryce Harper and pitch to Zimmerman instead.
Harper had been batting .417 this year and had 4 hits and a home run in his previous 2 games against the Sox during their current interleague series.
