(Pittsburgh, PA) In the National League Wednesday, Francisco Liriano outdueled Jeff Samardzija in the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park.
Liriano struck out nine over seven-innings pitched in improving to 3-0.
He's allowed two-runs in 18 innings since making his season debut for the Pirates on May 11th.
Samardzija is 2--6 despite and ERA of 3.25 and held Pittsburgh to one-run over seven-innings.
