(Washington DC) - In the National League Sunday. the Chicago Cubs beat the Washington Nationals 2-1 at Nationals’ Park on a throwing error that scored the game winning run in the ninth inning.
With the game tied at 1-1, Alfonso Soriano attempted to steal third base for the Cubs when catcher Kurt Suzuki overthrew third on a pickoff attempt.
Soriano scored to make it 2-1 and Kevin Gregg recorded his sixth save of the season by closing out the Nationals in the bottom of-the-ninth.
Chicago is 15-22 after taking two of three games from the Nationals and return to Wrigley Field tonight for a series against the Rockies.
