(Chicago, IL) - In Major League Baseball Monday, Jeff Samardzija pitched the first complete game shutout of his career and the Chicago Cubs defeated the Chicago White Sox in 7-0 at U-S Cellular Field.
Pitching just an hour north of his hometown of Merriville, Indiana, Samardzija threw the first nine-inning shutout for the Cubs since Randy Wells did it on August 29th, 2011.
Jose Quintana fell to 3-2 on the year after allowing four-runs in six-innings pitched.
The series between the cross town rivals continues tonight at US Cellular Field before moving to Wrigley Field on Wednesday.
First pitch tonight is at 8:10.
