(New York, NY) - Michael Wacha earned his first big league win in the St. Louis Cardinals’ 9-to-2 win over the New York Mets at Citi Field.
The 21-year old rookie settled down after a two-run first and shutout the Mets over the next five-innings. Allen Craig capped a five-run inning in the fifth by hitting a three-run homer and went 2-for-4 on the night.
Matt Carpenter's hitting streak ended at 18 following an 0-for-4 night at plate.
St. Louis leads the NL Central by three and-half games at 42-and-22 and play the Mets again tonight at 7:10.
