(Cincinnati, OH) - In the National League Wednesday, Carlos Gonzalez hit three home runs for 6 RBIs and the Colorado Rockies overpowered the Cincinnati Reds 12-4 at Great American Ballpark.
Troy Tulowitzki added two more homers for the Rockies and went 5-for-5 on the night.
Pedro Villarreal was making his first career big league start for the Reds in place of staff-ace Johnny Cueto, who was scratched because of lingering problems with a muscle near his pitching shoulder.
Colorado drove the rookie pitcher out of the game in the fourth inning with two homers and six-runs on 10-hits.
The Reds are 36-24 and sit two and-a-half games behind the Cardinals for first place in the N-L Central.
Cincinnati will begin a weekend series against St. Louis Friday night at Great American Ballpark.
