Last updated on Monday, June 10, 2013

(CINCINNATI, OH) - Matt Holliday hit a grand-slam in extra innings and the St. Louis Cardinals rallied twice in beating the Cincinnati Reds 11-to-4 in 10-innings at Great American Ballpark on Sunday.

The Cardinals won their first game in extra innings this season in taking two-of-three games against their NL Central division rivals.

Daniel Descalso and Matt Carpenter each doubled in the tenth to make it 7-to-4 and Holliday hit his fifth career grand slam to cap a seven-run inning for the Cardinals. Carpenter extended his career best 19-game hitting streak by going 2-for-6 with three-RBIs for St. Louis.

Jay Bruce grabbed a 2-to-nothing lead in the first inning for the Reds with a sacrifice fly and later hit a two-run double in the fifth to make it 4-to-2.

The Cardinals have a four-game lead on the Reds for first place in the division at 41-and-22 and begin a series at the New York Mets Tuesday night.

The Reds are tied for second with the Pittsburgh Pirates at 37-and-26 and open a road series against the Chicago Cubs tonight at 8:05.
