(St. Louis, MO) - In the National League Thursday, Lance Lynn won for the third time in four starts and Allen Craig had a pinch-hit, two-run single to lift the St. Louis Cardinals over the Chicago Cubs 6-1 at Busch Stadium.
Lynn improved to 10-1 after giving up one-run in six-innings pitched, a home run to Welington Castillo in the third inning.
Craig was given the day off until Cardinals' manager Mike Matheny called on the day-to-day cleanup hitter to pinch hit for Lynn in the sixth inning.
Craig drove in two-runs with a single to right field, adding to a four-run inning for the Cardinals that included Matt Holliday's eleventh homer of the season.
The Cubs are 29-42 and host the Houston Astros this afternoon at 2:20.
The Cardinals are 47-26 and lead the Reds by three and-a-half games for first place in the N-L Central.
They host the Texas Rangers tonight at 8:15.
