(undated) - In the American League Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox snapped an eight-game losing streak by beating the Seattle Mariners in a 16 inning, five and-a-half hour marathon at Safeco Field.
Chicago won 7-5 in the late matinee after 13 scoreless innings and a wild fourteenth that featured five-run at bats by each team.
Alex Rios gave the White Sox a 1-to-nothing lead in the top of-the-fourteenth with an RBI base hit and Casper Wells followed with an infield single that made it 2-0.
Jeff Keppinger hit a two-run single to centerfield and Hector Gimenez doubled two-batters later to make it 5-0 Chicago.
Seattle responded in their next at bat with an RBI single by Endy Chavez.
Chicago is 25-32 and host the Oakland A's tonight at 8:10.
