(St. Louis, MO) - In Major League Baseball Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals held off a late charge by the Houston Astros to hold on for a 9-5 win at Busch Stadium.
The Astros needled the Cardinals bullpen for five-runs in the ninth before Edward Mujica entered the game and recorded the final out for his 24th save of the season.
Matt Carpenter went 3-4 with three-RBIs and Allen Craig had three-hits and two-RBIs for the Cardinals.
St. Louis leads the Pittsburgh Pirates by a game and-a-half for first place in the NL Central and host the Astros tonight at 8:15.
