(Chicago, IL) - The Chicago Cubs traded starting pitcher Matt Garza to the Texas Rangers in exchange for a handful of prospects.
The Cubs will receive Triple-A infielder Mike Olt, Class-A right-handed pitchers C-J Edwards and Justin Grimm, and one or two players to be named later.
Garza's departure from Chicago has been anticipated with the Cubs struggling through another season, although recent reports had the 29-year-old right hander in talks for a contract extension to stay at Wrigley.
Garza's been pitching his best baseball as of late, allowing six-runs in his last six-starts.
He's been on the disabled list each of the last three seasons.
