(Los Angeles, CA) - Indycar champion Ryan Hunter-Reay was named world’s top race car driver at the annual ESPY awards last night in Los Angeles.
Hunter-Reay won the "top driver" award for capturing the Indycar title last year, the first American to win the championship since 2006.
Proceeds from ESPY ticket sales are donated to the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research.
Jim Valvano was a former coach at N-C State and sports commentator who passed away in 1993 after battling cancer for nearly a year.
