(Cincinnati, OH) - In the National League, the Pittsburgh Pirates avoided a weekend sweep to the Cincinnati Reds with a 3-2 win at Great American Ballpark Sunday.
Jordy Mercer and Jose Tabata drove in runs in the seventh inning to give Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.
Homer Bailey left the game in the seventh after the go ahead runs and fell to 5-9 after a 12 strikeout afternoon.
Cincinnati is 55-43 on the year and trail the Pirates by three-games for second place in the National League Central Division.
The open an 11-game road trip against teams in the NL West tonight, starting with the San Francisco Giants at 10:15.
