(Indianapolis, IN) - South Bend’s Ryan Newman won for the first time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by cruising to an easy victory at yesterday’s Brickyard 400.
Newman defeated Jimmie Johnson by 2.6 seconds after the four-time Brickyard champ surrendered the lead on a bad pit stop with 27-laps to go.
Johnson came is second, Kasey Kahne third, Tony Stewart fourth, and Matt Kenseth fifth.
Other notables include Dale Earnhardt Junior's sixth place finish, Jeff Gordon came in seventh, and Danica Patrick was 30th.
Johnson has a 75-point lead on Clint Bowyer for first place in the points standings.
The Sprint Cup season continues next weekend at Pocono with six-races remaining until the chase begins.
