(St. Louis, MO) - In the National League, Adam Wainwright became the National League’s first 13-game winner by pitching the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-2 win over the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium yesterday.
Wainwright held the last place Padres to two-runs over eight innings pitched and struck out seven in improving to 13-5 on the year.
The Cardinals are 59-37 and lead the Pirates by two-games for first place in the NL Central.
They play the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow night.
