(Muncie, IN) - The Ball State Cardinals opened the season with a beat down of Illinois State 51-28.
Ball State trailed the entire first half, and found themselves in a 21-9 hole at half time.
The Cardinals fought back with 21 points in the third and 14 in the fourth while only allowing 7 half points on defensive in the second half.
Quarterback Keith Wenning threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more scores in the winning effort.
Wide Receiver Willie Sneed caught nine passes for 164 and twice found the end zone for the Cardinals.
