(St. Louis, MO) - Matt Carpenter scored the game winning run and had four-hits in leading the St. Louis Cardinals past the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-to-5 in 12-innings at Busch Stadium yesterday.
Pittsburgh's lead over St. Louis in the division was cut to two after Carpenter scored from third on an RBI single by Matt Holliday in the bottom half of the inning.
The Cardinals are 69-and-51 and have won three of their last four games. They open a series at the Chicago Cubs this afternoon at 4:05.
