(St. Louis, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals outlasted the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-to-3 in a 14-inning marathon at Busch Stadium last night.
Adron Chambers hit a pinch-hit single in the bottom of-the-fourteenth that gave the Cardinals the win.
St. Louis trailed 3-to-2 in the ninth inning when Pirates' left fielder Starling Marte dropped a routine fly ball hit by Daniel Descalso. Allen Craig tied it later in the inning with an RBI single that sent the game into extra innings.
The Cardinals trail the Pirates by two-games for first place in the division and host Pittsburgh tonight at 8:00.
