(Philadelphia, PA) - In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies held off a ninth inning rally by the Chicago Cubs to win 9-8 at Citizens Bank Park Tuesday.
The Cubs trailed 9-5 entering the ninth when Nate Schierholtz hit a two-out, two-run single that cut the lead to two.
Schierholtz later scored on an error by Phillies' left field Domonic Brown, but Johnathan Papelbon settled in for the final out after giving up three-runs in the ninth.
Schierholtz finished with three-hits, two-RBIs, and two-runs scored.
The Cubs are 49-63 and play the Phillies tonight at 7:05.
