(Chicago, IL) - In the National League, the Washington Nationals scored two-runs in the ninth inning to stay clear of the Chicago Cubs 4-2 at Wrigley Field Tuesday.
Ian Desmond and Denard Span drove-in runs each in the top of-the-ninth inning to give Washington a 4-1 lead.
Donnie Murphy homered for the third-time in two-games for the Cubs in their half of the ninth, but Rafael Soriano stopped the rally and earned his 32nd save of the season.
The Cubs are 54-and-71 and host the Nationals tonight at 8:05.
