(Cleveland, OH) - In the American League, the Detroit Tigers opened up a five-game lead over the Cleveland Indians for first place in the AL Central with a 5-1 win at Progressive Field Tuesday night.
2011 MVP Justin Verlander dominated the Cleveland lineup in striking out seven in eight innings pitched.
Justin Masterson allowed a three-run homer to Don Kelley in the fifth inning in falling to 13-8 on the year for the Indians.
The Indians are 62-51 and continue their four-game series against the Tigers at 7:05 tonight.
