(St. Louis, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals have clinched at least a tie for the National League Central division crown, with a 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals Wednesday.
The Cardinals threw five rookie pitchers at the Nats, and the young arms delivered, allowing only five hits and three walks.
Shelby Miller ran his record to 15-9 with the win, with new closer Trevor Rosenthal nailing down his third straight save.
First baseman Matt Adams gave the rookie arms all the runs they would need with a two run homer off losing pitcher Jordan Zimmerman.
Zimmerman failed in his attempt to win his 20th game of the year, he ends the season with a 19-9 record.
