(Pittsburgh, PA) - The St. Louis Cardinals avoided getting swept in Pittsburgh with a 7-2 victory over the Pirates.
The Cardinals jumped on Pirates starter Kris Johnson for five runs over the first three innings to cruise to the win.
St. Louis starter Joe Kelly allowed a run over six innings to move to 7-3.
David Freese and Matt Holliday drove in two runs each as the Cardinals move into a tie with Pittsburgh for first place in the NL Central.
