(Cleveland, OH) - The Kansas City Royals scored three runs in the top of the first en route to a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Alex Gordon hit a solo home run with Eric Hosmer and Lorenzo Cain adding RBI singles off Cleveland starter Scott Kazmir in the first.
The Indians responded with two runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Michael Brantley.
That would be all Cleveland would get off Royals starter James Shields. Shields went eight innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven to move to 11-9.
Kazmir allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits over four innings to fall to 8-8.
