(Pittsburgh, PA) - Francisco Liriano took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but the Pittsburgh Pirates needed a late rally to top the Chicago Cubs 3-2 Sunday.
Liriano didn't allow a hit until Junior Lake singled leading off the seventh, but lefty faltered after that, and took his first no-decision of the season.
Pinch-hitter Justin Morneau singled in the go-ahead run in the 8th inning, the former MVP's first RBI since joining the Pirates from the Minnesota Twins.
Reliever Kyle Farnsworth got the win, his first since coming to Pittsburgh from Tampa Bay.
Pedro Strop took the loss.
The win kept the Pirates tied with the Cardinals atop the National League Central standings.
