(Daytona Beach, FL) - NASCAR is investigating an allegation that Penske Racing cut a deal with Front Row Motorsports during last Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race at Richmond that enabled Penske driver Joey Logano to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
The Associated Press reported Wednesday that a spotter for Front Row driver David Gilliland informed the team of a request to let Logano pass the 38 car during the closing laps of Saturday's race.
Logano finished one point ahead of Jeff Gordon for the final automatic berth in The Chase.
NASCAR issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying that the sanctioning body is looking into the allegation but has yet to see anything requiring further action.
