(Cincinnati, OH) - Mat Latos fired a complete-game four-hitter as the Cincinnati Reds beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-2 in the opener of a key four-game series at Great American Ball Park.
For the second time in two starts, Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright struggled against the Reds, allowing six runs on ten hits over six innings.
Shin-Soo Choo hit a two-run home run and Joey Votto added a solo shot off Wainwright, who falls to 15-9.
Latos gave up a pair of runs in the third, but needed just 100 pitches to go the route and improve to 14-5.
