(Indianapolis, IN) - One of the greatest Indianapolis 500 drivers in history said goodbye officially on Thursday.
Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti met with the media for the first time since announcing his forced retirement, caused by injuries suffered in a racing crash in Houston.
"I spent two days thinking, 'How can I get around it?' " Franchitti said. "I thought, there's got to be some negotiation."
Instead, Franchitti was forced to step out of the cockpit as one of most decorated drivers in American racing history.
